Online Patient Portal information:
Ashburton Health First will begin integrating a portal system into the practice as of November 2025.
What is a patient portal?
The patient portal is a secure website that allows every patient to access their personal health information and manage aspects of their care, all at home on a computer or mobile device.
What can I do on the patient portal?
You will be able to request repeat prescriptions, look at your test results, access your past and current prescriptions, and look over personal details and account information.
How can I sign up for the portal?
You will need either a mobile phone number (not a landline), or an e-mail, preferably both. Ask reception to send you a link either by text message, or via e-mail for you to sign up.
I have my invitation to sign up, but I am confused!
Further down the page is an in depth guide on how to sign up for the patient portal.
Patient portal enrolment guide:
In order to enrol, we will need to send you an invitation to join the portal, this can either be in the form of a text message, or an e-mail, eg:
Clicking on the link provided in the invitation will take you to a website page.
Make sure your device is connected to the internet:
Logon ID:
The Logon ID for your account is your: day of birth + 3 letters in your NHI number + last two digits of your birth year.
For example, if your birthday is 20/04/1993, and your NHI number is ABC999, then your logon ID will be: 20ABC93.
Reception will be happy to provide you with your NHI number, please give us your full name and date of birth for us to find this number for you.
Password:
You can pick whatever password you’d like, but there are some requirements to make your password as secure as possible. The password must contain:
At least one number
At least one lowercase letter
At least one uppercase letter
At least one special character (eg., !@#$%^&*() )
Make sure your password is secure and do not tell other friends, family, or third parties this password. It is your responsibility to keep your account safe.
After you have given your username and chosen a password, you will be asked to verify the e-mail or phone number associated with the account through the use of a verification code.
You can pick to either send this code to your phone number, or e-mail, eg:
Type this number into the verification box provided, then press Register. Be mindful that there is a time limit on this code, and it eventually will become no longer valid.
Next, click on the ‘Health Connect Patient Portal’ link on the next page, and you can log in to your account using the username and password you have created.
Upon logging in for the first time, you will need to validate your device using the same two-factor validation process as done earlier, choosing either to receive a text message or an e-mail:
Click that you want to trust this device in order to complete the login process.
With every new device that is used to log into your patient portal account, you will need to repeat this validation process. This increases the privacy of the information held on the account and keeps you safe.
Make sure to keep your username and password private.
